MEET THE 2013 EXECUTIVE OFFICERS

Kevin Keating, President

A Mount Pleasant native, Kevin Keating attended Mount Pleasant Public Schools and is a 1990 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School, where he earned varsity letters in Wrestling and Football. Kevin graduated from Michigan State University in 1994 with a Bachelors of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies in Social Science and Law. After spending over 15 years in the business world; developing commercial property, opening and managing a 300 seat restaurant and night club, working with world class, Fortune 500 companies Robert Half International Inc. and Automatic Data Processing, Inc., Kevin returned to Mount Pleasant to apply that experience and knowledge to a career in real estate.

Kevin's professional involvement includes serving as President of the Central Michigan Association of REALTORS® in 2009, President elect for 2012 and as a Director on both the Board of Directors of the Central Michigan Association of REALTORS® and the Board of Directors of the Home Builders Association of Central Michigan as well as past Chairman of a Referrals Over Breakfast (R.O.B) group of the Mt. Pleasant Area Chamber of Commerce.

When not selling real estate, Kevin spends time with his son Brendan, and also enjoys hunting, fishing, woodworking, raising chickens and remodeling the 100 year old fieldstone schoolhouse he bought in the summer of 2006.

Kevin also has another business, K Squared Residential Services that focuses on residential repairs, maintenance, landscaping and painting.

Diyonn Fahlman, President Elect

Sandi is an Associate Broker with Century 21 Pioneer in Clare, Michigan. She has been in the Real Estate Profession since 1978, has her ABR certification and an Associate Broker since 2000. As a result she has seen many changes in the industry, the majority of them very positive. Sandi has been on several committees such as Bylaws, Pro-Standards & Audit.  Before Sandi assumed her present position with Century 21 Pioneer she was a Realtor in Howell, Michigan. Sandi is active in all types of real estate transactions from commercial to vacant land. However, she does specialize in recreational properties. Sandi and her husband live on beautiful Eight Point Lake where she is the Vice Chairman of the Association and a member of the Rotary. They have six grandchildren; five girls and one boy. She enjoys water sports, golf and just hanging out with friends.

Cheryl is a full-time licensed REALTOR® with Century 21 Bowerman/Peake Realty, Inc., where she works at both the Mt. Pleasant and Lake Isabella offices. She serves on local association committees and on a state association task force. She is also an affiliate member of the Home Builders Association of Central Michigan. In addition to being trained in all aspects of real estate transactions, Cheryl has earned certifications in Internet marketing (ePRO), resort and second properties (RSPS), short sales and foreclosures (SFR), and working with diversity (AHWD).

A native of mid-Michigan, Cheryl and her husband, Jay, live in the city of Mt. Pleasant. She graduated from Mid Michigan Community College with an Associate degree in Business Administration, The University of Findlay with a B.S. in Equine Business Management, and Central Michigan University with a B.A. in History/Social Science and Master degrees in International Administration and History. She also earned a secondary teaching certification from Saginaw Valley State University. Before launching a career in real estate, Cheryl held numerous logistical and administrative positions and currently owns an independent small business.

Cheryl volunteers with numerous philanthropic and community organizations including the City of Mount Pleasant Historic District Commission, the Isabella County Planning Commission, the Friends of Isabella Seniors, and the Mount Pleasant Area Historical Society. Additionally, she chairs the advisory council for a social sorority at Central Michigan University. Cheryl is also an U.S. Army and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) veteran and continues to serve in the Army National Guard.

When she isn’t working, Cheryl enjoys spending time with family and friends canoeing and fishing in mid-Michigan rivers and lakes, snow skiing in northern Michigan, biking and hiking along the Pere Marquette Rail-Trail and State Trail, and traveling all over the world. She also has a fascination for researching family and local history.

Jim Parsons, Treasurer

Jim graduated from Central Michigan University in December of 1999 with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.  He as been licensed to sell real estate since January of 2001.  Jim has been active in all levels of  Central Michigan Association of Realtors including: finance committee, bylaws committee, education committee, MLS committee, and orientation instructor for the MLS.  Jim also served on the Board of Directors from 2005-2009 and was President of the Association from 2006-2008. In 2008 Jim was the recipient of the George D. Noch Leadership Award and in 2010 the Realtor of the Year award.  In June of  2009 Jim became partner and broker/owner of Century 21 Bowerman/Peake Realty, Inc.  Jim is now serving another 3 year term on the Board of Directors from 2012-2014.

 

 

MEET THE 2013 DIRECTORS

 

Leslie Walton

Leslie was born and raised in Mt. Pleasant Michigan.  After graduating from Western Michigan University, Leslie held several management positions within the retail industry between 1986 and 2001.  She received her Real Estate license in the fall of 2001 and her Brokers license in 2005.  She is Co-Owner of Richmar Realty which opened in June of 2002.  She is a member of the Central Michigan Association of REALTORS®, is a past chair of the Education/Program committee, has chaired several Sub-Committees, and is a past member of the Michigan Association of REALTORS® Task Force for the annual convention.  Leslie is a Director on the Central Michigan Association of REALTORS board of directors and is currently on the Education/Program committee and the Audit committee.  Her primary focus within the Real Estate industry is commercial property management and commercial leasing.  In her spare time she can be found on the golf course in the summer time or in the winter time riding her snowmobile somewhere in northern Michigan.

 

 

Maggie Murphy

Maggie Murphy has been in Mt.Pleasant since 1972 where she resides with her husband Howard (retired 3^rd Grade teacher); they have three children and three grand children.  Maggie has attended Jackson Community College where she received her Associate degree and her Bachelor degree from Central Michigan University. She started her career in real estate as a sales person later became a broker and finally as an appraiser. She has a GRI, owns her own company Murphy & Associates Appraisers LLC with offices in Central and western Michigan.

Maggie has served CMAR in many capacities over the years to include Board of Directors, Treasurer (several terms); committees such as Legislature, Political Affairs, RPAC, Financing, Building, Education, Standard Forms, Banquet, Golf Outing, and Technology. She is also a founding member of the Michigan Reciprocal Alliance where she has served as Chairperson and currently as Vice Chairperson. She also has been involved with the Sacred Heart Athletic Association Lenten Fish Fries, a former member of the Junior Achievement Board of Directors and Union Township Zoning Board of Appeals.

Some of Maggie's other interest include creating and sewing baby quilts, tote bags out of left over sofa fabric samples from her other company, and creating many different Holiday items

One of Maggie's goals is to see a REGIONAL MLS DATA BASE accessible with ONE LOG IN.

 

 

Cindy has been licensed since 1988, became the Broker/Owner of Century21 Pioneer in 1999 and is e-Pro certified and has earned her GRI designation, (Graduate of the REALTORS® Institute). Cindy was a Board of Trustee for 3 years and became REALTOR of the Year for the Clare Gladwin Board of REALTORS in 2002. She had Co-chaired the Annual Scholarship Golf Outing for Clare Gladwin Board for 5 years; Cindy and her office joined  The Central Michigan Association of REALTORS® in 2007 and has sponsored events such as Annual Banquet and Golf outing.

Cindy is a member of the Clare Chamber of Commerce since 1991 and Farwell Chamber of Commerce since 2005, and is a member of the Century 21 Northern Michigan Broker Council where she served as secretary for 4 years. She has also been a member of RBCC (Regional Broker Communications Congress) for 2 years.

 

 

 

Carol Farnan

Carol has been a licensed real estate agent with Century21 Bowerman/Peake for 10 years; where she has been a multi-million dollar producer for almost every one of those years. She is a lifetime resident of Isabella County and its community.

A member of Central Michigan Association of REALTORS®, She graduated form Shepherd High School and attended Davenport College in Alma.

Prior to selling Real Estate she worked in the retail business for approximately 15 years, where she enjoyed working with the public very much and still enjoys working with them now in fulfilling dreams.

Carol is active in all types of both listing and selling of real estate transactions which includes mostly residential, some commercial, vacant land and more. She resides in Shepherd and when not out selling real estate she enjoys spending time with her 2  children, her grandbaby, family and friends. She enjoys vacationing, camping, snowmobiling, softball and just sitting around the campfire at the cabin.

Dianne Beard

Dianne Beard graduated from Ithaca High School in 1968. After High School she attended Davenport Business College and Montcalm Community College. From 1981 to 1997 Dianne served as the Gratiot County Deputy Treasurer. She became licenced as a REALTOR® in 1980 and has been a member of the Central Michigan Association of REALTORS® for 31 years.

 

Some of Dianne's great accomlishments include: The Top Agent in the Century 21 Masters Club, Top agent of the Nothern Brokers Counsel, People's Choice Award winner, Quality Service Award winner and Multi-Million dollar Producer.

Rick Arlt

Rick is the Broker/Owner of Hometowne Realty in Mt Pleasant. Rick has been a licensed REALTOR® for over 30 years. He is married to Claudia and they have two children Stephanie and Robert. Rick has a Bachelor degree from Ferris State University in Business, and a MBA from Central Michigan University. He has served as President and Treasurer for the Association in the past and was REALTOR® of the Year in 1995. Rick is an Accredited Buyers Representative and his specialty and passion is working with first time home buyers. His company also is heavily involved with property management including homes and apartments. Rick and Claudia enjoy house boating on the Muskegon River.

Barb McCollom

Barb McCollom is pleased to serve as a Director of the Central Michigan Association of Realtors. She studied Business at Michigan State University earning a B.A. degree in Marketing. Barb has been a REALTOR with Coldwell Banker/Mt. Pleasant Realty since 2010. Mt. Pleasant has been her home for 33 years. Barb and her husband, Chuck, have a daughter, Tracy and a son, David. Barb has earned her CRS® Certified Residential Specialist, ABR®Accredited Buyer Representative and SFR®  Short Sale/Foreclosure Resource designations. She has been a volunteer for Michigan Special Olympics for 24 years serving on the Management Team and Games Committee. She has also presided as Board Chair for the Central Michigan Chapter of the American Red Cross and served as Congregation President for Immanuel Lutheran Church. She has received the American Red Cross Clara Barton Award and Mt. Pleasant Area Chamber of Commerce Eagle Award. In addition to working with her real estate clients Barb enjoys travel, golf, sewing, watercolor painting and photography.
